Boyle Heights Community Menorah Lighting on the first night of Hanukkah 2021
Hanukkah is the Jewish eight-night, wintertime Festival of Lights. At the heart of the festival is the nightly menorah lighting. The menorah holds nine candles, one of which is the shamash (“attendant”), which is used to kindle the other eight lights. On the first night, we light just one flame. On the second night, an additional flame is lit. By the eighth night of Hanukkah, all eight lights are kindled.
First Night of Hanukkah 2021 Menorah Lighting
So please join us on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 4pm for the free public first night menorah lighting on the steps of the Breed Street Shul in Boyle Heights. As is traditional, special blessings will be recited to a melody before the menorah is lit, and songs will be sung afterward. There will be complimentary Hanukkah sweets for all.
Schedule:

- 4:45pm Lighting of the menorah
